New Recording — Atencioso — Pixinguinha
Please take a minute to listen to this new recording i’ve made of the tune ‘Atencioso’ by the Brazilian composer Pixinguinha. I’d love to hear your feedback about the track. I’m currently putting together a concert of music that will have me performing on a variety of woodwinds and this is the first demo track to come out of the project. Much of the music in this program will be in this vein as i’m a big lover of all things bossa nova/MPB/tropicalia.
About the music:
This tune was composed by Pixinguinha, born Alfredo da Rocha Viana, Jr. in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was a saxophonist, flutist, and the composer of a huge volume of music largely in the Choro style. Pixinguinha has become well known for taking older forms of Choro an combining them with modern jazz harmonies.
The accompaniment for this track was produced by Andrew Worboys of Sydney, Australia.
Not that I know much about Brazilian music, other than how much I enjoyed it when I was in Brazil and it made me feel happy. From an audience standpoint, this sounded great and was very uplifting

Yeah, it’s kind of a happy tune. The title translates to ‘Attentive,’ which is sort of a weird title.
